“The Story I like to tell”

The story that I like to tell is one of the books that I have read that really has a great lesson. The title of that book is “The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic”. I like to tell this story especially to teenagers who wants to shop all the time. This book imparts one great lesson and that is we have to spend our money wisely. Most teenagers love to shop in the mall but they have to know how to minimize their costs. Rebecca is a financial journalist. Her work is to write about how to spend money wisely. She is totally the opposite of what her job is. She always loves to shop. Whenever she sees new clothes that she really likes in a store, she buys it immediately without checking how much it costs. Because she can’t control herself from shopping too much, the bank sends a letter to her that she has many debts in the bank and they have to cut-off her visa card. Many things happened to her life when she was in that situation. She soon realized that too much shopping is not good. Yes, we can still buy things, but we have to limit ourselves from buying too much things. As possible, just buy things that are necessary.

“Teaching to learn”

All of us learn from what is being taught to us. Just like in school, our teachers teach us so that we can learn something and apply it in our lives. The best way for us to learn is when we are taught. Also, when we teach, we also learn something. It is because when we teach, we have to fully understand what we are teaching to others and so this also means that we learn as we teach.

“Self-Reliance”

My own understanding of self-reliance

Is when you are an independent person.

You don’t rely on other people

But you do the things you want yourself.

As early as now

We should learn how to stand on our both feet.

For time will come

That we will have to live life on our own.

Self-Reliance should be our motto in life

For we have to believe in ourselves.

Believing that we can do anything

No matter what circumstances may come our way.

“Buried Alive”

To be buried alive

Is not as easy as you think.

You are still alive

When they buried you in the ground.

No air and so dark

That’s what you’ll experience.

You can feel the soil

Covering the parts of your body.

It is so painful when you are buried alive

Coz’ you are really suffering a lot.

Knowing that your are still alive

But you’ll be dead in a while.

My favorite song is Collide

For this song really sounds nice.

Together with its beautiful melody

Is a very wholesome message.

Every time I hear this song

I always feel that something nice would happen.

Even though this song is played several times in the radio

I still love to listen to this song.

My fave song really inspires me a lot

For it really has a good lesson.

Despite all the things that happened to us

We can still change for the better.

“If God can take care of birds,

He can take care of us”

God is our Creator

And so He made all living things.

If He can nurture the birds,

He can also nurture us.

God loves all of us

Whether we are rich or poor.

His love for all of us is equal

Regardless of our status in the society.

In return for all the things God has done for us

I will love everybody unconditionally.

For God wants all of us to be happy

And so I will do that best I can to make others happy.

“My New Year’s Resolution”

I want to change this 2007. This is a new year for us to start again. My New Year’s Resolution this year is that I want to change my bad traits to good ones and also I will read more books. First, I want to change my bad attitudes form the past because this year, I want to be remembered as a girl who is beautiful in the inside. Also, I want to change because I know that some people also get hurt because of some of my wrong doings. Second is that I want to read more books. Since I have only left with less that a year to increase my vocabulary for the entrance exams for college, I want to work hard. I want to make my parents happy. Of course, I know that I will make them happy if I will work hard. I will make this year a better year than last year.

Christmas Season is fast approaching

So all of us should be happy.

Pleasing the real reason for the season

Is what we should all do.

Christmas is all about giving

That we should all follow and do.

For it is Christmas when all people are happy

For it is the perfect time for all of us to celebrate joyfully.

Should be our motto this Christmas.

Let us think of others first before ourselves

Coz’ Christmas is all about sharing.

I want to be remembered

As a simple girl with simple dreams.

Material things are not important to me

Coz’ these are just earthly treasures.

What is important is what we feel

So that people will love us for being ourselves.

I’ve learned many lessons in life

Sad to say that I can’t have him

“Epiphany”

The light bulb moment of my life

Is when I didn’t talk with my sister for a couple of days.

She tried to talk to me

But I just answered her questions directly.

And then I realized

That I should not fight with her.

For she is my sister, my own flesh and blood

Whom I should love eternally.

I am so lucky

To have a sister like her.

Who is patient enough to understand me, her lil’ sister

And try to solve our little fight

And love each other wholeheartedly

“Conquer your demons or you will pass them on to your children”

All of us are not perfect and so we surely do commit mistakes in our life. All of us must fight back our demons so that our children will not get the bad traits that we have. And by the way, demons are like our bad traits in life. We have to do something to stop our bad traits. We have to resolve them so that we will not pass it on to our children in the future. Everyday is a new day for all of us and so we must not go back to our past and try to be a good person.

“And summer’s lease halt all too short a date:

Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines”

For me, this phrase means that summer is like love. Sometimes, our love to a person will not last forever. We have to make the most while two lovers still have feelings for each other. Sometimes, their love for each other is so great that it seems that the eye of heaven shines. Love is intangible. You cannot touch it, but you can just feel it deeply. Love is everything you see in this earth, people loving one another wholeheartedly.

“My only love sprung from my only hate”

For me, this phrase means that your only love turned out to be your only hate. This situation happens in reality. Our true love may be the son of the family that our family despises. This situation also happens to me but not romantically. Sometimes, my sisters and I fight and so it is just normal to hate each other, but soon, our hatred to one another will fade away. Even though sometimes we hate one another, deep inside we still love each other. There is a phrase that goes: “Love is like a wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it”.

“Country or City”

For me, I prefer city. Why??? It is because my family and all of my friends live in the city. In the country, there is less pollution, less crime and we might also live long when we live there. But why do I still prefer to live in the city?? Maybe, I just prefer city than country because it is where I was born and raised. Another thing why I prefer to live in the city is because I have lots of memories in the city. There are times, though, that I want peace and quiet. Whenever I feel like being alone, I take time off and spend some time in the country.

“What goes around, comes around”

These are words of wisdom. I personally believe that this is true. What you do to others will eventually come back to you. When we are good, we will be rewarded. However, when we are evil, bad things will happen sooner or later. They call this “karma”. God is watching us and He has his way of rewarding the good and punishing the evil.

“Power corrupts,

Absolute power corrupts absolutely”

Too much power may lead to corruption. Almost all government officials here in our country are corrupt. When we have the power, we can do anything, may it be good or bad. Like in our country, our economy is already getting down and it is because of having a corrupt government. Philippines is known to be a third-world country. We must do everything to make our country a better place to live in. This can be done if we all try to change our attitudes and make a difference.

“The rebel who disobeys,

However mush the journey costs,

He pays”

For me, this phrase means that however rich and powerful a person is, if he is a rebel, he will really pay for the awful actions he did. There is a saying that says that if we pay for what we have done, that is the only time when we realize our mistakes. God wants peace and harmony here on earth. All of us must learn how to forgive one another. We must forgive other people from the bottom of our hearts.

“Life is a box of chocolates”

This phrase means that life is a box of chocolates because in a box of chocolates, they come in different kinds and tastes. Like in life, we may encounter problems that are different. We are a community and so we posses different kinds of personalities from one another. We have to set aside our differences so that we will have a harmonious and loving society.

“Teach me half the gladness

That thy brain must know

Such harmonious madness

From my lips would flow

The world should listen then-

As I am listening now”

For me, this means that we should all strive for happiness in our lives. We must all think before we do something, so that we will not regret what we have done. We also have to love our neighbors. The two love commandment states that we should love God and our neighbors. When we learn to love our neighbors as well as our enemies, we will attain peace. God created this world for us to love one another.

“The child is father of the (wo)man”

A child will also be a father or a mother someday. In life, it is a cycle. When a child is born, his parents take care of him until he is old enough to be on his own and later have his own family and become a father. They say that “what goes around comes around”. We better treat our parents well because someday, when we have children of our own, they will do the same.

“Hero”

For me, hero is like someone who saves someone not because he is obliged to do it but he just wants to do it because he loves that person. Here in the Philippines, we have many heroes. All of them died because of fighting for our country. Our country will not be free if our heroes did not fight for our freedom. All our heroes have the same aim and it is to give our country independence.

“Honor and shame from no condition rise,

act well your part, there all the honor lies”

For me, the meaning of this passage is that when you do everything right, you will be respected by all people. They will honor and cherish you. Well, I can say that no one is perfect, but as much as possible, we have to do the right thing so that people will respect us and we will not be ashamed of ourselves. We will all be confident and be proud of ourselves. But once your reputation is ruined for doing something bad, people will belittle us and will not respect us. To all of us, let us uphold our integrity and together, let us build a happy community for us to have a peaceful society.

“British”

British are actually the people living in Britain. They usually call themselves British people. From what I have known, they speak English. Britain is a country found in Europe. There are also many British authors. Classic books are usually written by British authors. I have read a book written by a British and it is really very nice. Although boring in the beginning, it has a moral lesson.

“My version of light”

My version of light is my family. For me, they are my light because I get more strength from them in facing my problems in life. God gave me abundant blessings but the most important and significant thing that He showered unto me is my family. My family is my strength and my life. Money can’t buy a happy family. We have to strive in order to attain happiness in our family.

“I am a person of darkness”

I am a person of darkness because I am the type of person who is quiet and shy. My mom usually tells me to speak up in class. Well, maybe, it is because I haven’t come out from my shell. This year is a new year for me to start again. I have to do the things that I haven’t done yet before. My mom also tells me that I should try to be assertive and believe in myself. I should learn how to be with other people without being shy.

“What I really want to say”

What I really want to say at this moment is that I miss summer. I miss the times when I used to play with my sisters and cousins. We did a lot of things together. Another thing is that I somewhat miss my classmates last year as well. I miss their jokes and stories. Maybe, I am still adjusting, which is why I feel this way. Lastly, I want to say that I am very happy that I have friendly, nice, helpful and thoughtful classmates. With them, I can feel that whenever I have problems in life, I can always come to them for help. Truly, I am so blessed that I have my classmates.

“The best thing that happened to me this summer”

Many good things happened to me this summer. Well, for me, the best thing is that my family and I stayed together with my cousins and my other relatives. We were all happy with each other’s company. We talked about what our plans are in the future. God also showered me with so many blessings this summer. I want to thank Him for all of that. I also had more fun with my sisters this summer. Good things do happen to us if we just have faith in God. God will always grant our wishes if we just keep on praying.
